Two-sided protest

Sep 01 2009

Islander Allyssa Wickstrom, left, and Karen Moore, of Bellevue, protest President Obama’s proposed health care reform in front of Rep. Dave Reichert’s Mercer Island office on Aug. 31. More than 50 people showed up to protest. At the same time, approximately 60 citizens rallied in Mercerdale Park in support of a public option for health care reform. A delegation delivered a petition signed by 3,500 constituents to Rep. Dave Reichert's office. The petition supported Obama's bedrock health care plan requirements: reduce costs, guarantee choice and ensure affordable care for all.
