Kirkland to host series of meetings on possible Annexation

The City of Kirkland will host a series of Open Houses and public hearings in June about the potential annexation of the Finn Hill, North Juanita and Kingsgate neighborhoods.

The annexation process requires that zoning regulations be adopted for the annexed area. A Zoning Regulation Open House will be hosted by the City’s Planning and Community Development Department and is aimed to help inform residents of changes. The Open House will take place from 4-7 p.m. on June 2 at Kirkland City Hall. The City Council will hold the public hearings on the proposed annexation zoning regulations following the Open House. The second public hearing will take place on June 7 with both starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Washington State Boundary Review Board for King County will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. on June 8 at Lake Washington Technical College in room W401. This hearing will be to accept public comment and consider the City's annexation proposal. THe hearing will be continues on June 10 if necessary. The City of Kirkland will host three informational meetings in June to answer questions about the proposed annexation process. All meetings will take place from 7-9 p.m. with the first taking place on June 18 in the Juanita High School auditorium. The second meeting will be on June 23 in the gymnasium at Finn Hill Junior High School. The last meeting will be on June 29 in the Kamiakin Junior High School cafeteria.

The Kirkland City Council has filed an annexation proposal with the Washington State Boundary Review Board for King County, declaring intent to place an annexation measure on the November 3, 2009 ballot.
