Between Wednesday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Kirkland Police Department reported 259 traffic violations (12 DUIs), 31 car accidents, 23 vehicle prowls, 22 thefts, 21 alarm calls, 15 assaults (nine domestic violence) and 10 burglaries. At least 37 people were arrested.
Wednesday, Nov. 5
VEHICLE PROWL: 4:43 p.m., 10400 block of N.E. 38th Place. A suspect linked to 20 vehicle prowl “smash and grab” cases was arrested, following a four-month investigation by Kirkland ProAct officers and detectives. A 34-year-old Portland, Ore. man was held on several counts and police recovered at least four allegedly stolen laptop computers in his possession.
MISSING PERSON: 7:53 p.m., 13000 block of N.E. 102nd Place. A 15-year-old female juvenile was thought to have run away to another Kirkland residence. She was not located and police filed a missing person’s report with state and federal authorities.
Thursday, Nov. 6
LIQUOR VIOLATION: 1:18 p.m., Juanita High School. A school resource officer stopped four students returning to campus allegedly under the influence. One student was issued a citation for cigarettes and another was suspended after a subsequent search of his vehicle yielded a small amount of marijuana.
Friday, Nov. 7
ADULT ABUSE: 9:16 a.m., 12800 block of 124th Lane Northeast. Allegations concerning a caretaker were determined to be non-criminal in nature and police determined no further action is needed.
Saturday, Nov. 8
DISTURBANCE: 2:22 a.m., 8500 block of 124th Avenue Northeast. Several males in a Subaru Legacy were reportedly creating a disturbance as they waited in the McDonalds drive-thru. The driver, a 21-year-old Renton man, was later arrested on an outstanding warrant for obstruction.
ASSAULT: 10:30 a.m., 4500 block of Lake Washington Boulevard Northeast. A 19-year-old Granite Falls man was arrested after he allegedly threw his girlfriend off a couch, causing minor injuries.
VANDALISM: 7:30 p.m., 11800 block of 98th Avenue Northeast. A 39-year-old resident was arrested after smashing a glass door at Bishop’s Ale House.
Monday, Nov. 10
VEHICLE PROWL: 1:00 p.m., 6700 block of 116th Avenue Northeast. An unknown suspect broke into five vehicles and removed several items of an undetermined value, including a GPS system, a digital camera and a carry-on bag. Police have no further leads in the case.
