Kirkland Fire donates to Hopelink

Nov 02 2009

The Kirkland Fire Department recently applied for an Energizer Co. grant for 550 smoke alarm batteries and was awarded 240. As two, 9 volt batteries are required for each detector, 120 Hopelink households will be served by this allocation. The batteries will be distributed through Hopelink to the agency’s Kirkland clients. Along with batteries, recipients will receive a letter from the Fire Department including fire safety tips. “Change Your Clock Change Your Battery” is a national home fire safety program sponsored by the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Energizer Co. Each year, a limited number of batteries are donated to fire departments nationwide.
