Skyline defeats rival Issaquah, sits alone in top spot | Girls soccer

Skyline pulled into sole possession of first place in the KingCo 4A standings Thursday night, beating rival Issaquah, 2-0.
The Spartans struck first in the 33rd minute when Emily Anderson knocked in a score off an assist from Madi Barney. Skyline added an insurance goal in the 52nd minute when Barney scored a goal of her own, via an assist from Anna Morgan.
The Spartans improved to 6-0 in league and 10-1 overall. Issaquah suffered its first league loss of the year, falling to 5-1 in league and 8-2 overall.
Both teams have important games, Tuesday, Oct. 13. Skyline hosts Woodinville (4-1-1) at 7:30 p.m. — the same team they beat last year for the 4A state title. Issaquah hosts Eastlake (5-1) at 7:30 p.m.
Eastlake hammers Garfield
Eastlake's offense erupted Thursday night, crushing league opponent Garfield, 7-0. Lindsay Elston and Allie Beahan had two goals apiece for the Wolves. Candice Osei-Agyemang, Courtney Pixler and Abby Frenkel also scored for Eastlake, while goalkeeper Bryce Kennedy recorded the shutout.
The Wolves moved to 5-1 in league and 7-3-1 overall with the victory. They travel to play league rival Issaquah in an important game at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Eastside Catholic ties Holy Names
Eastside Catholic battled to a scoreless tie Thursday night with Metro rival Holy Names. The Crusaders moved to 1-2-2 in league and 6-2-3 overall. They are currently tied for last place in the Mountain Division, but only three points behind Holy Names and Seattle Prep for first place. Eastside faces Seattle Prep at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13 on the road.
