Sammamish police blotter

Jan 02 2009

Theft

Bicycle thieves had a big score recently, stealing nearly $15,000 worth of bicycles from a home in Sammamish.

According to Sammamish Police, the homeowner had left the garage door open, and when she returned the next day the bicycles and some other items were missing.

The stolen items include three Schwin bicycles, one Bianchi bike and one American Maverick bike.

A pair of Sorrell snow boots was also stolen.

Police dusted for prints at the scene, which were submitted as evidence in the ongoing investigation of the case.

Old case comes to light

A 74-year-old Sammamish woman is helping police with their inquiries into a case stretching back to the 1970s.

According to police, the woman recently read an article in the Seattle Times about a dog sitter who had been stealing from homeowners over the past 30 years, and recognized the subject as her old dogsitter.

The local woman remembered items that had gone missing from her home during those years, including bone china and ivory candle holders.

She contacted local police, who are looking into the matter.

It is understood that the subject of the article is currently in prison.

Unlocked car

A 41-year-old Sammamish man will regret not locking his car doors, after $4,000 worth of belongings were stolen from his parked Lexus before Christmas.

The car was parked in a residential driveway.

Two sets of left-handed golf clubs, assorted Christmas gifts and a leather jacket were among the items reported stolen.
