Kudos for Issaquah allrounder

Dec 26 2008

Congratulations to Mandy Nussbaum, a senior at Issaquah High School.

She has been selected as the October Red Robin Scholar Athlete of the Month by the IHS Booster Club and Red Robin Restaurant.

IHS Swim and Dive Coach Laura Halter nominated Nussbaum.

“Mandy is the team captain and is a leader by example,” Halter said. “She is a great cohesive force for our team. Mandy is very hard-working and dedicated, is a role model for her fellow teammates, and treats all members equally and with pride.”

Nussbaum’s favorite swim events are the long distance freestyle and 100 meter breast stroke.

When reflecting on this past season she is really proud of how the team performed after moving from 3A to 4A competition.

Nussbaum enjoys not only swimming but water polo as well, and hopes to play water polo at a college in southern California.

Her academic interests include biology and molecular biology.

Outside the pool, she has been involved in the DECA program at IHS and the Environmental Club.

She also currently volunteers at Clark Elementary School, working with 4th and 5th grade students in literary circles, making her an exemplary scholar athlete.

All the staff and students at Issaquah High School congratulate Nussbaum and wish her the best of luck in the future.
