Heaps selected to All-American team
Jan 09 2009
Chalk up another big-time award for Skyline quarterback Jake Heaps.
Last Friday, the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder, became one of just 10 juniors across the nation to be named to the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl team.
Heaps, who threw for 2,888 yards and 38 touchdowns last season, was the only quarterback selected in the first wave of honorees. The other 80 roster spots will be filled next fall.
Heaps, who is said to have 18 Division I scholarship offers, was on hand Saturday to watch the East team beat the West 30-17 in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. Only one Washington state player, Garfield’s Deandre Coleman, participated in this year’s game.
