Akana wins Brian Hill wrestling title

Cameron Akana, a Sammamish senior, won the 215-pound weight class at the Brian Hill Invite, held at Eastside Catholic High School on Dec. 27.
Akana defeated Juanita sophomore Jeremiah Laufasa 13-2 in a major decision to capture the title. Akana was also named the Outstanding Wrestler for the Upper Weights in the tournament. Eastside Catholic’s AJ Hostak was named the Outstanding Wrestler for the Lower Weights.
Sammamish finished in 12th place as a team with 42 points. Kentridge won the tournament with 232.5 points, while Juanita took second with 151.
