Golf tips: Try out the claw grip for putts

Dec 13 2008

If you are at all like me and have been playing golf almost your whole life, you probably notice that your putting skills wane as you have gotten older or at best you become hot and really cold from time to time.

For quite a few of us, when we were young, putting was really easy and was just so natural. Get an idea of where the putt should go and hit it there, easy huh?

I have a great way of getting the flip or yip out of your stroke if it is a problem with you like it is for me now.

Simply put your right hand on the grip in the cradle of your hand between the right thumb and forefinger as shown in the picture above.

It took me a little bit of practice to get used to this but, boy, does it feel solid as you make your stroke through the ball.

It also makes you take the putter back slow and deliberately, which was natural as a kid.

Give this a try and see if it helps you putt like a kid again.

Steve Wozeniak has helped some of the games very best including Rocco Mediate, Jim Colbert, Emily Klein, and Jim Dent.
