Sights and Sounds

If you already jumped ahead to page 12, you’ve read about staff writer Lindsay Larin’s time test driving a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. We sent staff photographer Fumiko Yarita along to record the story - and she got a ride in one of the speedy cars, too. Believe it or not, she had the presence of mind to take this photo of herself and Lamborghini sales executive Andy Meyer. And, yes, she really was screaming.

We all can breathe easier - or at least continue to drink our Starbucks’ creations everywhere in Bellevue. The coffee giant is not touching any of the stores here, or elsewhere on the Eastside as it axes 600 across the country.

Other cities in the state aren’t so lucky. Seven Seattle locations will go, as will stores in Aberdeen, Burlington, East Wenatchee, Federal Way, Kent, Orting, Port Angeles, Spokane, Tacoma, Tukwila, Vancouver and Yakima.

In Seattle, that may mean you’ll have to walk MORE than one block to find a Starbucks.

The speed limit on Bel-Red Road is 35 mph. Most drivers keep to close to that speed. OK, a little over.

Strangely enough, everyone was at of just under the speed limit Thursday afternoon, June 26.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the four State Patrol Troopers on motorcycles heading east.

Holding a cell phone to your ear now may be illegal, but the Legislature may want to check out at least one other concern noticed recently: A driver eating lunch with chopsticks while cruising along a Bellevue street.
