Driver of Bellevue Boys & Girls Club van released from hospital
Jul 29 2010
The driver of a Bellevue Boys & Girls Clubs van that was involved in an accident last week was release from Overlake Hospital on July 27. There were no signs of impairment at the time of the incident by the driver of the bus.
Police say the investigation of the collision is almost complete, but initially it appears it was caused by the driver during a medical event that was not foreseen.
WSP concluded the vehicle's mechanical systems were functioning properly. Also, there were the right number of seats on the bus for the number of passengers it was carrying. Each of the 21 passengers had their own seat. Therefore, overload was not a factor.
The van t-boned a Blazer SUV in the 15200 block of Lake Hills Blvd. at approximately 6:25 p.m. Friday, July 23. The van then hit a tree.
The bus had just left the Boys and Girls Club in the 15300 block of Lake Hills Blvd. when the accident occurred.
