Redmond's Snap Fitness: Get fit this fall!

Sep 24 2008

Fall is here and it’s time to get back into a healthy routine. With the kids back in school, fall can be a great time to get started.

“We typically think about new fitness goals and programs around the New Year, but the fall is just as timely,” said Jackie Siochi, Snap Fitness owner in Redmond. “Summer’s over, and we get back into a more predictable pace. There’s a greater willingness to find a little time for physical activity. Plus, we start realizing the holidays aren’t THAT far away, and we want to look good in our holiday outfits.”

Siochi explained that by getting into a fitness routine now, people will already be in the swing of things and have established a new habit by the time the holidays and New Year roll around.

To help people jump-start their routines, Snap Fitness is starting every new member this fall with a free equipment tutorial and an introduction to a “Basic 8” total-body workout that takes only 30 minutes. What’s more, the club is holding a FREE “Fitness Adventure” to keep members motivated and reward them for working out. The unique program kicks off October 10 and runs through November 21. As they exercise, members go through a fun virtual challenge where they island-hop across the Caribbean, riding an ATV throughout the Turks and Caicos, swinging through the rainforest in Antigua, scuba-diving in Martinique, snorkeling in Barbados and swimming with the dolphins in Jamaica. Among the grand prizes is a Caribbean trip for two.

But what if you don’t want to exercise in the gym just yet? Jackie suggested a variety of other tips to get started becoming more active this fall:

Walk around the outside of the field while your kids have sports practices or games.

Conduct “walking meetings” at work and get up to ask questions rather than emailing.

Rake leaves or do outdoor yard work.

Take hikes and tackle a few hills during your journey.

Schedule active get-togethers with friends rather than going out to eat or to a movie. How about bowling, dancing, touch football or a bike ride?

“The key is to do something, no matter how simple” Jackie said. “Once you make up your mind to pick up the physical activity, it’s easy to find community resources like us to help you keep going.”

Located at 11435 Avondale Rd NE next to PCC, Snap Fitness offers ‘round-the-clock access to state-of-the-art cardio and strength-training equipment, allowing busy individuals the opportunity to stay active and fit without sacrificing time and convenience. In addition to the club’s “Basic 8” total-body, strength-training program, members also receive a variety of free services, including a free $100 Personal Fitness Consultation, a free Online Training Center, a free Personal Wellness Plan, and a free Personal Web Page. Online Nutrition and Meal Planning and Customized Nutritional Supplement Plans are also available.

The Redmond Snap Fitness location is promoting several fall membership specials, including a free week trial membership so you can “try before you buy.” To arrange a tour of the club or get more information, call 425-605-2241 or visit snapfitness.com/redmond.
