Wildflower exhibit set for Pogacha

Emily LaCroix-Axinte, a Bellevue native who still lives here, is on a quest to find and photograph all of Washington's wildflowers.
Her photography exhibit, "Wildflower & Nature Photography of Emily LaCroix-Axinte" will run March 1 through April 11 at Pogacha of Bellevue, 119 106th Ave. NE.
LaCroix-Axinte’s first noteworthy discoveries took place in the Columbia River Gorge in southern Washington, a virtual wonder area of wildflower abundance. Wanting to know more about her subject, she bought a Lone Pine field guide. Before she knew it, she set out on her photo quest. So far, La Croix-Axinte has found and cataloged more than 300 different species.
“Photography has given me a wonderful reason to travel to and explore new corners of Washington that were previously unknown to me. There are so many different kinds of terrain and ecosystems, all with their own unique character,” she said. Each new experience provides a new collection of photographs.
In recent years, she has studied art and interior design at Bellevue Community College.
