Pacific Sound Chorus takes first place at event

Apr 14 2009

The Pacific Sound Chorus captured first place at the regional/state Sweet Adelines International chorus competition held Saturday, April 4, in Spokane. As state and regional champions they will advance to international competition, which will take place during October, 2010 in Seattle where the chorus will compete against more than 30 of the top regional winners of Sweet Adelines International choruses from around the world.

The chorus was judged in four categories: sound, music, expression and showmanship.

Leading Pacific Sound to victory was director, Susan Kegley from

Renton. She has directed the Pacific Sound Chorus for just two years. Since chartering in Bellevue in January of 1990, the Pacific Sound Chorus has had the opportunity to compete in several regional competitions and has placed in the coveted top 10 at the

international level.

The Pacific Sound Chorus members range in age from women in their

twenties to their seventies who all share a love for music and singing four-part a cappella harmony. Bellevue residents include Anne Carr, Betsy Norton, Beth Smith, Betteann Bond, Bonnie Kulvinskas, Diana Wells, Glenny Law, Joan Crow, Lea Beverley and Marcia Kavanaugh.

The chorus holds weekly rehearsals on Tuesday at the Stroum Community Center on Mercer Island. To learn more about Pacific Sound Chorus International visit their Web site at www.pacificsound.org or contact Gayle at 425.820.9825 or tomngayle@aol.com.
