All of Vashon now closed to shellfish harvesting

In an update to last week's closure of Quartermaster Harbor, the Washington Sate Department of Health has now closed the entire island to shellfish harvesting

Guiding Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue through a time of increasing calls and declining revenue will be one of the many tasks that five-member CKFR Board of Fire Commissioners will face. There are three candidates running this year for one open commissioner spot: Nate Andrews, Valerie Quill and incumbent Ralph Rogers.

Brush fire in South Prairie | Update

Two homes were evacuated in South Prairie after a brush fire started in a ten acre field around 2:00 this afternoon. More than 15 different rigs were brought to this fire by East Pierce, Buckley, Orting and Riverside fire departments. One firefighter was overcome with heat exhaustion and was transported away.
